Children’s Art Class: Ages 12-18 (Group Class)

Taught by Rachel D'souza
October 25, 2026 16:00 · 1 hour 30 minutes Online

Ages 12–18

Art Without Borders is a creative, hands-on art programme for teenagers aged 12–18, designed to introduce young artists to the wider world of art while developing their technical skills, creative thinking, confidence, and individual artistic voice.

Our classes are led by experienced artists and art educators with a pedagogical background, combining professional artistic knowledge with a student-centred approach. Whether joining online or in person, students receive guidance and feedback throughout the creative process while working at their own level and pace.

Through a variety of drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, mixed media, and experimental techniques, students explore artists from different countries, cultures, and time periods. They learn about artists’ stories, ideas, and creative approaches while developing their understanding of colour, form, texture, light, shadow, composition, and visual storytelling.

Learning Through Art

Each class begins with an artist, artwork, cultural tradition, artistic idea, or creative technique that becomes a starting point for exploration.

Students are encouraged to observe, ask questions, discuss ideas, experiment, and develop their own artistic responses. Rather than simply copying an artist’s work, they learn how artists think, experiment, solve creative problems, and make artistic choices.

Educators guide students through the creative process—from developing an initial idea and making sketches to experimenting with materials, refining their concepts, and completing a finished artwork. Students receive personalised guidance and feedback while learning to make increasingly independent artistic decisions.

Personalised & Student-Centred

Every young artist approaches art differently. Our teaching approach creates space for students to develop their own interests, skills, and creative voice.

Students can explore subjects and techniques that spark their curiosity, experiment with different materials, and bring their own photographs, sketches, ideas, or personal projects to develop during class.

The goal is not perfection, but exploration, experimentation, and growth.

Through the creative process, students develop both artistic and transferable skills such as observation, concentration, problem-solving, critical thinking, patience, and independent decision-making. Most importantly, they build confidence in expressing their ideas and learn that there can be many different ways to approach a creative challenge.

Discovering Art & Culture

Art becomes a way for teenagers to discover the world around them. Throughout the programme, students encounter artists and artistic traditions from different cultures and time periods, creating opportunities to explore new perspectives and ways of seeing.

Lessons may be inspired by classical and contemporary artists, different artistic movements, nature, everyday life, popular culture, world cultures, and the environment around us.

A Supportive Creative Environment

Whether a student is completely new to art or already enjoys drawing and painting, the classes provide a welcoming environment where they can experiment freely, make mistakes, try again, and develop their confidence.

Whether attending in person or online, students are encouraged to participate, share their ideas and work, ask questions, and learn from the creative process.

With small groups, individual attention, and guidance from educators with both artistic and pedagogical expertise, students are supported not only in developing art techniques, but also in discovering and strengthening their own creative voice.

The aim is simple: to help every young artist discover the joy of making art, develop meaningful artistic and creative skills, and grow into a confident, curious, and independent creator.
